Sweet Marjoram

$6.00

Origanum majorana

Clear

A subtly coloured plant, Sweet Marjoram has thin, gray-green leaves, with small knot-like flowers along the stem ranging in color from lilac to white.   Known as one of the Big 3 herbs grown in Barbados (the others being Thyme and Parsley), Sweet Marjoram grows well in the garden or in containers and windows boxes.   The herb is primarily used to season meat, fish and vegetable dishes.  Even though the name itself may lend one to think that the herb is sweet, it is not in the sense of sugar content, but some Bajans may say that the herb makes their food taste “real sweet” (meaning very good).
